Dyslexia

Students identified as having dyslexia and are supported with accommodations under 504 services receive intervention at Boone.  Boone uses state approved intervention programs to support the needs of the students.

One program is called Systemic Instruction in Phonemic awareness, Phonics and Sight words (SIPPS).  It is a systemic decoding curriculum that helps readers develop word recognition skills and reading fluency. This program involves 40+ lessons  for 30 minutes per day.

A second program Boone uses is called Blitz and Boosts. It helps students with decoding concerns, strengthen basic reading skills, increases fluency and overall comprehension.

AISD does evaluate students for dysleixa.
