Boone's Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is filled with dedicated parents, teachers, grandparents, and community members. Events sponsored by PTA have hundreds attend. Look for events like Spirit Night, Family Bingo nights, Family Fun Run, Breakfast Baazar, Fall Festival, parent education speakers, and Carnival. These opportunities bring family friendly opporunities for us to connect and spend time with each other.

Boone Elementary PTA is required to submit revised Bylaws to Texas PTA this year.  Please use the link to review the proposed changes.  We will be voting on each one as an amendment at our next general meeting on Thursday, November 16th.  Any questions can be directed to Katie Phillips, Boone PTA Parliamentarian:

PTA Bylaws w-Proposed Changes (October 2017)

These are the proposed amendments:

Article VII, Section 2.a. Officers and their elections
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend officers to three (3) vice presidents instead of two (2). 
Amended text: "The officers of this Local PTA shall be a president,  three (3) vice presidents."
Article VII. Section 3.a. Nominating Committee
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend nominating committee to five (5) members instead of three (3). 
Amended text: "The nominating committee shall be composed of five (5) members."
Article VIII, Section 3.c. Duties of Officers
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to add duties of third vice president of communications.
Amended text: "Third vice president shall: 1. Be in charge of communications; and 2. Preside in absence of the president (in their designated order)
Article IX, Section 1. Meetings
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend meetings to five (5) meetings a year instead of three (3). 
Amended text: "This association shall hold a minimum of five meetings a year."
Article IX, Section 1.a. Meetings
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend association meeting months to September, November, January, March, and May  instead of September,  October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May. 
Amended text: "Regular meetings of the association shall be held in the months of September, November, January, March, and May."
Article IX, Section 3. Meetings Quorum
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend quorum number in association meetings to ten (10) instead of twenty (20). 
Amended text: "Ten (10) members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business in any meeting of this association."
Article X, Section 1.c. Executive Board
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to strike communications chair from executive board list as they are now third vice president and an officer. 
Amended text: "The teacher representative; room representative / volunteer coordinator." 
Article XIV, Section 1. Fiscal Accountability
On behalf of the Boone PTA executive board, a motion to amend fiscal year to begin August 1 and end the following July 31, instead of beginning July 1 and ending the following June 30.  
Amended text: "The fiscal year of this association shall begin August 1 and end on the following July 31. "

Texas PTA established the Texas PTA Emergency Relief Fund in 1995. This fund is used to provide emergency assistance grants for victims of hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, catastrophic illness and accidents. Financial aid is provided only to the truly needy and is consistent with the need.

Randall's Good Neighbor Card


Boone loves parent volunteers! If you are interested in being a Room Parent for the 2017-2018 school year please let us know. You can fill out the Room Parent Volunteer Form and return to the PTA box in the front office, or you can email Jennifer Anderson at If you send an email be sure to include your name, your child’s name and the teacher’s name and grade.

As a Room Parent, your general responsibilities will include:

  • Liaison between teachers, parents, administrators and the PTA
  • Coordinating class parties at the teacher’s discretion
  • Assisting with coordination of volunteers for school/classroom events
  • Decorating the classroom door several times during the school year
  • Coordination of donations for, and assembly of the class basket for the Spring Carnival Silent Auction.


Parents who wish to go on their children's field trips must complete an AISD background check through Austin Partners in Education (APIE)

Steps for applying for a background check:

  1. Go to
  2. Select the blue “Volunteer” icon
  3. Then select the school based volunteer icon
  4. Use the drop down menu to select Boone Elementary as the campus
  5. At the Boone Elementary page, select volunteer activity you are interested in doing or mentor if that is your interest.
  6. Input your e-mail address** where designated and confirm.
  7. Click on “Register”
  8. APIE will contact our counselor, Nicole Lozo when the background check has been cleared.

(You do not have to make a donation to volunteer.)

When approval comes through, Nicole will call you to verify that you are interested in the selected activity.

Please also be advised that siblings are not allowed on field trips and that parents will need to sign in as a visitor in the office before leaving for a field trip.
